[SADivision 0340] Please Help Us Get Responses to the Student Survey on Transfer!
Dear Campus Leaders, IR Directors, TOP Team Members, and Additional People Interested in Student Transfer, Please encourage ALL matriculated CUNY undergraduates to complete our survey on transfer (funded by the federal Institute of Education Sciences)! All matriculated CUNY undergrads should have received today an email from helpstudentstransfersurvey@CUNY.EDU<mailto:helpstudentstransfersurvey@CUNY.EDU> (sent to the addresses students have told CUNY they prefer) asking them to fill out our survey on transfer. We need responses from all students in order to compare the views and experiences of students who have transferred (or intend to) with other students. Students who do the survey can win one of 100 $50 Amazon gift cards. We need a high response rate to have valid results. While the survey is out in the field, we will send you updates on the response rates, separated by college. Please help make sure that your college looks good on these reports! Here is some information about the three sections of the survey that was previously sent by Executive Vice Chancellor and University Provost José Luis Cruz to all of the Presidents: (1) The General Background section asks students questions concerning their work, commute to campus, children, on-campus child care, marital status, and food and housing conditions. (2) The General Situation in College section asks students questions about their educational goals, experience registering for classes and meeting with an advisor, and perceived degree of belongingness. This section also asks students questions about their current and previous enrollment, if any. (3) The Transfer section asks students questions about where and when they have acquired necessary information about transfer, and their experience applying to transfer, getting courses evaluated, registering for classes, and acquiring support once at their new colleges. This section also asks questions that test students' knowledge about different aspects of the transfer process. If you would like any further information about the survey, please contact me or the survey administrator, Stephanie Abbeyquaye (Stephanie.Abbeyquaye@cuny.edu<mailto:Stephanie.Abbeyquaye@cuny.edu>). Students who don't have or who have misplaced the email with their survey link, or who have questions about the survey, should write to helpstudentstransfersurvey@CUNY.EDU<mailto:helpstudentstransfersurvey@CUNY.EDU> . Please feel free to forward this message and/or the email addresses wherever they might be useful. Nationally, 80% of new community college freshmen report that they want at least a bachelor's degree, but six years later only 17% have done so. At CUNY those values are 87% and 11%. Our goal with this survey and our other transfer work is to identify and address the leaks in the transfer pipeline, including the variables associated with those leaks. Thank you so much for your help with this endeavor, one that is so essential to student success. Sincerely, Lexa Alexandra W.
