January 6, 2020
Dear NASPA Region II Member,
We are pleased to announce the opening of the call for programs for the
2020 Region II Conference in Niagara Falls, NY, from June 7-9, 2020! Presenting at the regional conference is an amazing way to demonstrate our region’s talent. Here are some important considerations as you prepare
your proposal. The deadline for submitting a program proposal is January 31, 2020.
Conference Mission Statement
-
This year’s committee is excited to announce the creation of the Region II Conference Mission Statement:
The mission of the NASPA Region II Conference is to connect members of the region 2 student affairs community by creating a conference experience that integrates integrity, innovation, inclusion and inquiry.
We strive to help participants create networks to share the rewards and challenges of educating college students.
-
Program Proposals are encouraged to demonstrate a connection to the conference mission statement. There will not be a theme for the conference; simply an emphasis on the conference mission and
NASPA’s Guiding Principles.
Program Types
-
We are offering two different ways to be engaged as a presenter in this year’s regional conference. The first option is to present a general interest session and the second option is to present an SASpeaks session! More information about each can be found on
our conference program proposal form.
-
In addition, if your presentation topic would fit well for our Graduate Student and New Professional (GSNP) Pre-Conference and you are interested in presenting during the GSNP Pre-Con, please indicate that on the program proposal form.
The Audience
-
NASPA regional conferences include staff from all professional levels, graduate students, and even some undergraduate students. Therefore, please know that your audience may consist of a wide variety of student affairs practitioners. If your program is intended
for a specific professional level, please indicate that in your session description.
Structure of your Session
-
NASPA Regional Conferences are generally less formal than the national conference. Our goal is to create an atmosphere where we learn from each other.
-
Please consider incorporating an interactive component that will aide in the learning during your session. Remember, while we encourage interaction, the audience came to learn from you as the presenter!
-
Allow enough time for questions.
Competencies
The regional conference presents a unique opportunity to network, build relationships, and build community with colleagues. Don’t hesitate to focus on community and capacity-building in your sessions and be sure to demonstrate how your session connects
to our conference mission statement.
Click
here to submit your session today! The deadline is January 31, 2020.
We look forward to having you join us in Niagara Falls in June! If you have questions, feel free to contact either one of us.
