RE: 2014 Michael Solomon Scholarship
In honor of the retirement of Michael Solomon from the CUNY Legal Affairs Office, a scholarship fund was established by his colleagues for students who have overcome
obstacles (including natural and man-made disasters) in order to pursue their higher education. We would like to honor two winners of the Solomon Scholarship Fund at the CUNY Student Leadership Awards ceremony to be held in May. Each recipient will receive
a plaque and a monetary award of two hundred dollars ($200).
If you believe your college has students deserving of these awards, please submit one or two nominations to my office by
April 18, 2014. There should be a separate letter of nomination for each student. Your letter of nomination should include the name and contact information (address, phone number and email address) of the student and an explanation of the obstacles
overcome and the academic progress made. Copies of the nominee’s resume or brief biography, and the nominee’s academic transcript should be attached.
The award winners will be selected by a Scholarship Committee comprised of Michael Solomon and representatives of the Legal Affairs, Student Affairs, and Labor Relations
Offices in the Central Office.
