SAVE THE DATE: The 2020 CUNY BMI Conference will be held at Queens College on Friday, October 2nd.
From University Director, Shawn C. Best: Our conference this year will be the 15th year anniversary of the beginning of CUNY BMI, and will be a very special year. We will collaborate with My Brother's Keeper and NYC Men Teach to bring the most comprehensive conference we've ever had. Our theme for this year is "The State of Black Males In New York City". To be clear, when we use the term 'Black', this refers to African-American, African, Caribbean, Latino and other students who identify as Black and male. We believe that an inclusive conference provides the most comprehensive information necessary to bridge our networks and expand educational opportunities in our communities.
With that said, CUNY BMI has women, transgender, non-gender conforming and other students and partners who benefit from the services we provide. The CUNY Black Male Initiative is a University-wide student development initiative with more than 30 projects focused on increasing matriculation, retention and graduation rates of underrepresented students, particularly men of color. CUNY BMI is one expression of CUNY's commitment to access and diversity. CUNY BMI projects are open to all academically eligible students, faculty and staff, without regard for race, gender or national origin. (Anticipated General Registration available 7/31: $100 Early Bird until August 31st $150 Starting on September 1) CUNY and DOE Registration: FREE (contact information forthcoming for Group Reservations)
