Dear Student Affairs Family:
As promised, I am sending you the most up-to-date information discussed at today’s President’s Cabinet meeting. This information was also shared individually with department
directors and several others who are responsible for programs and services. Some of the bulleted information below is specific to one or more people/departments, but I’m providing it publicly so that everyone is on the same page.
- Queens College is open again starting tomorrow, Tuesday, March 17!
- All personnel must report to work except: those who may have already been approved by Jennifer or me for telecommuting; those on approved
annual leave or sick leave.
- All department directors should report to work (unless in the categories described immediately above), and must work on their office/department
plans for providing ongoing services.
- Directive from the Chancellery is that as many staff members as possible should be telecommuting, and essential services should continue
on-campus (in-person) with limited personnel. As such, department directors must include this in their plans, keeping in mind the information in CUNY’s
Flexible Work Arrangements website.
- All plans (for the provision of services, as well as for staff telecommuting) must be submitted for approval to Jennifer and me (copying
Irving) as quickly as possible, but no later than Wednesday, March 18 at 4:00pm.
- Rosenthal Library will not be open for at least the next week, but students can use computer labs in the I Building as needed. Library
staff are working to make additional materials available to students electronically (e.g., textbooks and other materials that are on reserve at the library).
- Students who may need a laptop computer to use at home for remote instruction will be able to request such at the Student Affairs Office
– SU 327. Unfortunately, the number of available computers is very limited.
- The Summit, the Child Development Center, Health Services, and the Knights Table Food Pantry are considered essential programs and
must remain open and available for in-person services during this time.
- Work Study students can report to work in office that remain open and staffed; work study students
can telecommute if doing so fits in with the plan for the office.
- The deadlines for students to request Unevaluated Withdrawals and Pass/No Credit (P/NC) options are extended to the last day of spring semester
classes – May 14, 2020.
- Keep records of
all coronavirus-related expenses realized by your offices, as CUNY will be requesting federal aid in recouping these expenses.
Please check with your department director for specific information/updates for your offices, and do not hesitate to let me know if you have other questions or concerns.
Thank you all for your continued hard work, support, and assistance to our students. Take care of your students, take care of your colleagues, and most importantly, take care of yourselves.
Sincerely,
Adam
(he, him, his; what does this mean?)
