Office of Student Affairs presents:
Joe & Carol Brostek Scholarship Fund: $500.00 scholarship awarded to a junior level student
in excellent academic standing who is actively involved in student life or government, possibly also linked to the Newman Center.
**Houchange Haghihi Scholarship Endowment: One $1000.00 scholarship for a student maintaining
a cumulative GPA of 2.7 or above for at least two (2) semesters. Students should also show a commitment to community service by working or volunteering at least 25 hours per school year with the elderly population, preferably at a local facility in the borough
of Queens.
William J. Hurley Newman Club Scholarship:
Awarded to a worthy Queens College student with a GPA of 3.0 or above, and who is an active member of the Queens College Catholic Newman Club. Financial need will be taken into consideration.
John Linakis Memorial Scholarship Endowment:
$250 award to a Queens College student based on financial need and promise for community activism and leadership. Preference will be given to students who show potential for future contribution
to improving the quality of life in NYC; promoting more harmonious racial and ethnic relations, increasing the voice of those who have gone unheard, increasing political participation of those who have been politically under-represented or serving as an advocate
for the dispossessed.
Carole A. & Norman Barham Family Scholarship Fund: Endowment funds to provide scholarships
for students housed in the new Residence Facility.
**For the Haghighi Scholarship a letter from your agency documenting the commitment is required.
