Dear Student Affairs Staff Member: Last week you received the email below from President Matos Rodríguez asking you to contribute to the CUNY Campaign. Today, I am writing to make a personal plea to everyone in the Student Affairs family. Most of us already donate to various charitable organizations, so why not make it even easier and have donations to your favorite charities made directly from your paycheck? For many years I have been doing this and I know the charities are getting the money I designate to them as I get a thank you letter from the charities each year. Won’t you consider doing this as well? Whether you want the donations taken from your paycheck or to donate a one-time amount to your favorite organizations, you can set it up via the CUNY Campaign secure website at http://cuny.edu/site/campaign/donate.html If you don’t want to do this on the secure website, you can complete a paper donation form in the Human Resources Department (163 Kiely Hall). Every little bit helps; no donation is too small! In addition to your favorite charitable organizations, I would like to suggest that you and your colleagues consider contributing to the Queens College Foundation. As you know, many of our current and potential students have great difficulty paying for Queens College. Our contributions to the Queens College Foundation will go directly to support scholarships for our students. Please feel free to contact Reinalda Medina (HR), Maria Fosco (the fundraising Captain for the Student Affairs Division), or me if you have any questions. Thank you very much for your consideration! Sincerely, Adam [Description: Queens College]<http://www.qc.cuny.edu/> Adam L. Matos Rodríguez: CUNY Campaign for Voluntary Charitable Giving The Power of One Person Making One Pledge The CUNY Campaign for Voluntary Charitable Giving is one of our community's finest traditions. It is the time each year when the entire University comes together to address critical health, human, and environmental challenges facing our city and our world. At a time when social challenges can seem overwhelming, your donation to the CUNY Campaign counts more than ever. The Power of One-the power of one person making one pledge to help others-is an extraordinary power that we all have. There are hundreds of charitable organizations that the CUNY Campaign has helped over the years and to which you can target your donation, including those that provide food and shelter to the less fortunate, perform cutting-edge research on our more vexing diseases, as well as our own Queens College Foundation which provides scholarships to our hard-working students. How You Can Help Our campus uses an environment-friendly, web-based format to accept donations. On that website-http://cuny.edu/site/campaign/donate.html<http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=0011cvrrhQPbe3rWkWjl8W-oZB_lpuXVgwi45bsKeipOg-3qVGIQH2eUDhzTazhaXObgN2FNabTi0zCn0IXEWVOEWl-Yo8CLJvSuHKkxQQd1gofFJnLhZZW5OnhPARFaAnKQCbSnGG8LO-qKMvA5hYorcndt0KVQGZfARAa0qKrjhfYcqk3URV8Ul9S7hQo5DN2E8Wk4Lqcwn4=&c=lkoqRqKZCho_KQpc-xoi0bVdKDmVfPbTQzwpjyodFh_dLlkITf2kRQ==&ch=d3mv6IzKqLQ2aaKoej-8w4KmAwk8ua7zelkPvLwBO3C9n2q8L_tahQ==>-you will find a list of participating organizations and a donation form. If you are more comfortable with the paper format, booklets are available through the Office of Human Resources (Kiely Hall 163). Signing up for the payroll deduction option makes giving easier as your gift will be taken out of your paycheck in small deductions throughout the year-small deductions that will add up to great benefits for many people. And if you sign up by Friday, December 5, you will be eligible to win an Apple iPad. The Queens Team Making a Difference I know our contributions make a difference, and that together we can help promote positive and lasting changes in people's lives and our communities. Reinalda Medina, our Assistant Vice President of Human Resources and Administrative Services, has volunteered to spearhead Queens College's participation in the 2014 CUNY Charitable Giving Campaign. Reinalda has put together a team of dedicated individuals from across the campus community to serve as captains. They are: Molash Alemayehu, Division of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Paul Dubois, Division of Arts and Humanities Carol Douglas, Division of Social Sciences Maria Fosco, Division of Student Affairs Kim McCants, Division of Education Sandra Mew, Office of the Provost Tanya Ross, Division of Finance and Administration Mary Aboki, Office of Human Resources and Administrative Services. You may contact any member of this group for information about the Campaign. I hope you will join Reinalda, our team of divisional captains, and me in making this our most successful year ever.
