Dear Student:
We have been directed to inform you that you have been academically dismissed from Queens College for your failure to meet retention standards
at the end of the Spring 2014 semester. Your dismissal is effective the first day of classes for the Fall 2014 semester. Consequently, your Fall 2014 classes will shortly be cancelled and a full tuition refund will be mailed to you by the Bursar.
You do have the right to appeal your academic dismissal to the Undergraduate Scholastic Standards Committee (USSC). An "Appeal for Reinstatement
after Academic Dismissal Form" is available at http://qc.cuny.edu/?id=X4D2.
The basis of your appeal must be a marked improvement in your cumulative GPA and/or the unavoidable event(s) that impacted your academic performance in the Spring 2014 semester.
If you are registered for the 2014 Summer Sessions, you are permitted to complete your classes. However, you MUST file an appeal by the
deadline if you wish to be considered for reinstatement for the Fall 2014 semester.
Bring or mail your appeal form, typed statement, and documentation to the USSC Office in Frese Hall, room 201 by no later than July 29, 2014. (Faxed, scanned, or emailed appeals are not accepted.) Incomplete appeals will be returned. Appeals received after
July 29, 2014 will not be accepted or reviewed.
A student whose appeal for reinstatement is granted by the USSC will be able to register for Fall 2014 classes.
A student whose appeal for reinstatement is denied by the USSC, or who chooses not to file an appeal, can apply to re-enter the college
in the future by filing a re-enter application. Students who were dismissed from Queens College may apply to re-enter only after a full academic year has passed since the date of dismissal. Re-entry for students who were previously academically dismissed is
not guaranteed. Re-entry information and applications may be obtained by visiting the Admissions Office Welcome Center, Jefferson Hall Main Lobby or by going to
www.qc.cuny.edu/admissions/undergraduate/reentry/Pages/Welcome.aspx.
Sincerely,
The Undergraduate Scholastic Standards Committee
