[QCsenate 0087] CORRECTED MESSAGE: Social Sciences Dean Search Committee - Some new members needed
Dear Colleagues: Provost Hendrey informs me that the search for the position of Dean of Social Sciences "will be extended and re-advertised" Those who are on the current Search Committee who are able to do so, will continue as members. However, all of the student members are graduating and one of the faculty members of the Social Sciences Division will be on leave next year. Therefore, we must elect new members at the May 8 meeting of the QC Academic Senate as follows: -One faculty member from Social Sciences -Five students whose major is in the Social Sciences AS WELL AS one student from the Education Division. (One need NOT be a Senator to serve on this search committee) You can poll people and even submit someone's name -- as long as they approve of the submission -- or you may self-nominate to serve on a search committee, if they are otherwise qualified as listed in the paragraph immediately above. Names to be considered MUST be submitted using the Nominating Committee form on the Senate website "at least 14 days prior to the meeting" -- which in this instance would April 24, 2014 -- 14 days prior to May 8, 2014. Please go to http://senate.qc.cuny.edu/NomCom/Application.xhtml for information and the application form What follows are excerpts 1> from the QC Academic Senate Charter* regarding the number of and qualifications of members of a search committee for an academic dean (other than the Dean of Education) and 2> from the Bylaws** regarding rules for timely submission of names. -------------- 1> Number and qualifications of members on academic dean search committee:
