Dear Colleagues,
 
Kafui Kouakou, the Chair of the University Student Senate, asked that the attached USS Resolution be distributed to faculty governance leaders. Terrence Martell, the  University Faculty Senate Chair  writes "The spirit behind the resolution requests flexibility on the part of the faculty towards those students impacted by Sandy. I would appreciate it if you would forward the resolution to other faculty members on your respective campus."
 
This resolution has also come to the attention of QC administrators who support the concept. Richard Bodnar, the Dean of Graduate Studies, suggested the following compassionate solution:
"Queens can finish this semester with both "integrity" and "flexibility". As I indicated in the College P&B meeting, the school should automatically EXTEND the amount of time to fulfill an INC for undergraduates from one semester to one year. In that way, students who have current INC grades from last semester have an extended period of time to complete their work, while current students can use the INC option to extend their academic planning over a longer adaptation period."

At the QC Academic Senate meeting this week, I hope we will amend our agenda to include discussion this.
