Attention all Members of the Queens College Greek-Lettered Community:
The following notice is being issued to all members of Greek life, with regards to possible grievances and other concerns that have been brought to our attention. According to reports filed with our office, the following incidents occurred within the last few days, and are currently under review:
* Our office has received several complaints about many incidents involving members of Greek-lettered organizations on campus, in which there may have been one or more possible violations of campus policy and protocol. Detailed information about these incidents cannot be disclosed at the moment, however, and investigation is underway to determine the severity of these possible infractions
* Organizations are engaging in New Member Education for Fall 2018, without having completed the anti-hazing prevention workshop that is required by the Office of Student Development and Leadership. This workshop must take place before New Member Education is initiated. Engaging in any new member intake, without approval and authorization, is considered a violation.
Due to these reports, the Office is issuing a cease and desist to all organizations, until the conclusion of this investigation. All organizations must stop all activities related to Greek Life on campus, including the annual Fall Brawl event and New Member Education programs, scheduled for this week and the semester.
It is expected that all organizations on the Queens College campus abide by all policies and procedures. We expect your full cooperation with this directive and matter. Please note that the cease and desist does not apply to the scheduled, mandated community service project, for the Annual Breast Cancer Walk, happening on Sunday, October 21, 2018. It is expected that all organizations on campus will be in attendance and participating at this event.
Please be advised that the next IGC General Body Meeting, scheduled for Monday, October 22, 2018, at 12:15 pm, in the Student Union Room 310 is mandatory. All organization presidents, as well as both organization representatives, are mandated to be at this meeting.
If there are any questions, please make an appointment to meet with a representative from the Office of Student Development and Leadership.
Thank you.
