Outpatient Dietitian Position,  Montefiore Medical Center (Moses Campus) 

Temporary part-time position: 18.75 hours weekly
Days/hours flexible within standard clinic operating hours of 8:30-5:00 Mondays-Fridays for ~ 3 months (June-August, ideally) for maternity leave coverage.

Mount Sinai Hospital (MSH) has an opening for a part time dietitian for our Epilepsy and Ketogenic practice

 Under the direction of the Director of Clinical Nutrition, the dietitian provides quality nutrition care and education to patients in the Epilepsy practice. Maintains level of clinical expertise for the assigned area, recommends the appropriate nutrition therapy as it pertains to the patients’ nutritional needs, makes therapeutic dietary recommendations, provides quality nutrition counseling, monitors adherences to nutrition related recommendations and communicates effectively with the interdisciplinary team. Acts as a resource to all clinical staff, provides feedback for their professional development, and coordinates departmental initiatives and education programs. Adheres to all applicable regulatory agency guidelines, and to department and hospital philosophies, standards, objectives and policies and procedures.

Registered Dietitian, Mount Sinai Wellness Program (3 hrs/wk)

Job Description
Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Part Time (1-2 half days per week) Registered Dietitian. In this role, the successful candidate will become a provider in our Wellness Program to assess nutritional status and provide dietary recommendations in an outpatient neurological setting both in-person and through video-visits.

Job Responsibilities:
- Reviews patient charts to obtain relevant data and medical information.
- Develops nutrition care plans to best meet the needs of each patient.
- Provides nutrition education on therapeutic diets and drug/nutrient interactions.
- Documents appropriately in patient's EMR.
- Sets guidelines for follow-ups / re-assessments
- Other duties assigned by management and/or deemed best practice.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Baccalaureate degree in Nutrition Sciences
- Registered Dietitian (RD) Issuing Agency: NYS Department of Licensing

Preferred Qualifications:

The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is seeking a highly motivated, energetic individual to join our Stellar Farmers Markets (SFM) team.

 

We are hiring a temporary, part-time Head Nutrition Educator to implement live virtual nutrition workshops (via Facebook Live and other virtual platforms, such as Zoom) and record nutrition videos from May-December 2021, 4 days per week. This role will also plan and facilitate team meetings, schedule virtual partner workshops, and may assist with additional coordination tasks, as needed.

 

This position is a great way to gain skills in public speaking, facilitation, community engagement, and virtual programming implementation and support. Strong preference will be given to applicants with previous SFM experience and applicants who are fluent in Spanish.

COMMUNITY CHEF Part-time, Temporary (June 15 – October 30)

Description: Community chefs will work as part of a team of two in the preparation and delivery of nutrition and cooking workshops at farmers markets from June-October. This offers a great hands-on learning experience for those interested in working with health and wellness improvement in NYC, particularly in underserved communities, in addition to, valuable networking opportunities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Prepare and present interactive cooking demonstrations as part of nutrition education in accordance with program curriculum
• Assist with and ensure proper set-up and breakdown of cooking equipment and educational materials
• Promote healthy eating practices at the markets by conducting cooking demonstrations, distributing samples and recipe cards, and providing culturally competent nutrition education.
• Complete a mandatory 20-hour Community Food Educator training program (6/8, 6/9, 6/10) with an emphasis on community engagement, using local and seasonal fruits and vegetables, and food handling/cooking techniques.
• Collect data and administer surveys to customers.
• Communicate daily with the Program Coordinator to ensure smooth operations.
• Work with community-based organizations, health and nutrition institutions, and community residents from several NYC neighborhoods.

Required Qualifications and Skills:
• Basic knife skills and ability to execute basic cooking techniques
• Experience or training in nutrition or culinary arts
• Knowledge about regional produce
• Dynamic personality and excellent presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills
• Ability to work in multi-cultural settings with racially, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse
populations
• Willing and able to stand for long periods of time working outdoors
• Does not shy away from the heat/cold or wind/rain (we cannot emphasize this enough!)
• Preferably college or graduate student with some nutrition background (college coursework in
nutrition preferred)
• Has patience for some change in routine (ie: unreliable weather)
• Willingness to travel throughout New York City
• Ability to speak other languages is a plus! (Spanish, French, Creole, Mandarin, Cantonese, Bengali, and Russian)
• Commitment to a minimum of 2 days per week, including Saturday, and monthly Monday morning meetings for the duration of the season
• Reliable, punctual, and dependable
• Possesses an interest in making a difference with respect to nutrition, while having a passion for food accessibility and healthy food choices

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
• Strong preference will be given to applicants with formal experience in food service
Location: This position will require onsite work at farmers markets in Brooklyn, Manhattan, and the Bronx.

Looking for an energetic, professional, part-time Registered Dietitian for a CCRC facility in Goshen, NY managed by a dining service management company. What the role requires:

  • Bachelor's degree in a healthcare related field; advanced degree or accredited certification (Exercise physiologist, CSSD) a plus
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in providing counseling, coaching, cognitive behavioral therapy and/or other psychotherapeutic interventions
  • Outstanding project management skills and the ability to develop engaging and creative health programs
  • In-depth knowledge of health behavior and adult learning theories and their application
  • Demonstrated interest in preventive medicine and employer healthcare programs
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills
