My name is Hope Hendry and I’m one of the Project Coordinators for New York Public Interest Research Group (NYPIRG) at Queens College. NYPIRG is the student advocacy group on campus and we work to fight climate change, protect our democracy and make higher education affordable.

This fall, we are hosting Sustain and Give Thanks, a virtual event to educate students on how to shop sustainably for Thanksgiving. More specifically, the event will teach students about food systems within New York State and resources on where to buy locally sourced, sustainable food. Additionally, we’ll show students how to reduce food waste by reusing food scraps. The aim of the event is to teach students how to shop locally and reduce waste on Thanksgiving and more broadly throughout the whole year. Sustain and Give Thanks will take place on Thursday, November 18th at 4:00pm over Zoom. Could we give a short presentation during one of your classes (either in person or online) or could you pass a written invitation along to your students?

Thank you for your time and let me know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Hope
