As a leader in higher education, I wanted to share some information about our Master of Science degree program in Athletic Training. Perhaps you are mentoring or advising students for life after their baccalaureate degree. Please take a few moments to review the information below and attached. Feel free to share and/or post this flyer with students interested in combining their enjoyment of athletics with medicine - athletic training may be the program for them! As students explore options for entering the health care profession, we invite them to consider joining Stony Brook University’s athletic training program. We also offer remote Information Sessions - schedule can be found on the flyer and website. We do have one schedule for Tuesday, Dec, 8 from 5-6pm. I understand it is last minute, but if anyone is interested, please let us know.
Stony Brook University, through the School of Health Technology and Management/Stony Brook Medicine, announced a NEW Master of Science degree in Athletic Training in spring 2019 and we are happy to report a very solid initial two cohorts with students from all over the US. Our admissions cycle is open and we are in the process of identifying our next class.
Our graduate program is a full-time, two-year, 77 credit professional program. The program is designed for students who already possess a baccalaureate degree and meet the prerequisite coursework. Upon completion of this graduate program, students will be eligible for the Board of Certification (BOC) exam and state licensure.
The athletic training program at Stony Brook University is designed to provide quality classroom, laboratory, and online instruction in conjunction with hands-on clinical experiences at NCAA Division I, II and III athletic programs and competitive local high school sports. Our program is dedicated to contributing to the body of knowledge in our profession by continuing to encourage various research initiatives. By being embedded within athletics and medicine within our community we promote building relationships through interaction with physicians and valuable community service involvement. Completion of this comprehensive program is sure to prepare students to become competent and confident athletic trainers.
We are currently accepting applications for the next Master of Science cohort beginning in summer 2021.
It is possible for academic work and baccalaureate degree to be "in progress" when submitting an application. Interviews will be conducted on verified applicants. Admission is offered on a rolling basis and will close once the Class of 2023 enrollment seats are filled.
