I specialize in weight management & weight loss surgery (Bariatric surgery) at New York Health and Hospital's Bellevue Hospital. We are expanding our program by adding a 4th RD to our team! If you would like to share, please do. We are looking for a bilingual (Spanish) RD preferred.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Performs initial nutrition assessment and pre-operative nutrition education to candidates undergoing bariatric surgery.
· Reviews clinical and biochemical data to formulate a nutrition care plan.
· Recommends, develops and applies evidence-based nutrition protocols for the bariatric patient under direction of bariatric clinic medical director in conjunction with the ambulatory nutrition director.
· Counsels post-op patients to ensure dietary compliance, nutritional adequacy and formulation of weight management goals throughout the post-operative course.
o Education might include but not limited to:
· Healthy food choices within the context of a prescribed therapeutic diet.
· A balanced and varied diet and appropriate lifestyle changes that promote health and wellbeing.
· Specific dietary modifications and appropriate interventions to improve clinical outcomes.
· Conducts and facilitates monthly support groups for the bariatric service.
· Documents care plans, consultations, recommendations and follow-up interventions in the electronic medical record.
· Collaborates with other institutions/organizations on nutrition-related projects and courses.
· Participates in various community-based outreach programs.
· Instructs nutrition classes and lectures as needed to patients, employees, students and clinical staff.
· Assists in the development of culturally sensitive nutrition educational material to meet the needs of an ethnically diverse patient population.
· Maintains continuing education in nutrition, clinical dietetics and related areas as appropriate in order to maintain current knowledge and skills in the practice of clinical nutrition.
· Maintains credentialing as a registered dietitian.
· Performs related duties as required.
1. Registration by the CDR as a Registered Dietitian or New York State Certification as a Dietitian-Nutritionist.
· Registration by the CDR as a Registered Dietitian required.
· Bilingual: Spanish preferred
