Meal Planning In Eating Disorder Recovery with BALANCE eating disorder treatment center™ Dietitian Ximena DizThursday, March 25th at 12 pm EST
<<-- TOMORROW We want to invite you to join us for our upcoming webinar on Thursday, March 25th at 12 pm EST.
When in recovery from an eating disorder recovery, the usage of a meal plan is a vital part of creating structure and rebuilding a healthy relationship with food.
Meal planning is an important part of recovery from all eating disorders including anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder and other specified feed and eating disorders. In early stages of recovery, there may be ambivalence and hesitation in trusting one's instincts in food choices, portioning and monitoring hunger and fullness.
In this webinar, BALANCE Dietitian Ximena Diz will discuss the most common questions our clients have regarding meal planning and how to develop trust in yourself and your meal plan.
WHAT WE WILL COVER:
- Understand the purpose of a meal plan.
- Identify disordered thoughts and behaviors that impact our ability to follow a meal plan.
- Learn skills to feel more confident in your choices and ability to tune in and listen to your body.

NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital Nutrition Grand Rounds: Health Disparities and Nutritional Considerations for the LGBTQ+ Population
Date: Wednesday, March 31, 2021
<<-- Next week!
Time: 5:00pm-6:30pm (Eastern Standard Time)
Location: Virtual via Zoom Meetings
Speakers: Heidi Lochen, MS, RDN and Jay Patruno, RDN, LDN, CPT
Description of Session:
Despite rising social acceptance in pop culture of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, plus (LGBTQ+) individuals, health practitioners continue to have a lack of knowledge and comfortability with the community. Additionally, the Minority Stress Theory
describes how remaining social persecution such as homophobia and transphobia, and the coping mechanisms developed in response, leads to health access disparities and consequential health risks. This session will go beyond the 101 level by challenging heteronormative
and white-centered ideas of wellness, exploring health disparities, and steps on how to provide more inclusive and affirming patient care to this unique population. Participants will hopefully leave feeling more confident and equipped to participate in nutrition
counseling and/ program development for gender and sexuality of marginalized individuals.
Trigger warning: violence (mental, physical, sexual), disordered eating
Program Learning Objectives
1. Understand the differences between gender, sexuality, and gender expression.
2. Identify at least 2 health risks the LGBTQIA+ communities are at increased risk for.
3. Identify at least 2 barriers that increase the health risks for LGBTQIA+ individuals.
4. Apply at least 2 practice applications for providing more affirming and inclusive patient/client care.

Upon your registration, a link to join the learning session will be emailed one day in advance of the virtual event to the email provided below.
