The Florida Department of Health WIC Program Services currently has job
openings for nutrition educators and public health nutritionists. We opted
to postpone our usual Spring mail-out of the Florida WIC job listing due to
COVID-19. If you are in still in contact with recent graduates, would you
please share the attached information with those who may still be looking
for nutrition jobs? Graduates may contact me or the contact person listed
on the attached career opportunities list for further information about
position openings in a specific county.
Please note the current requirements for Florida WIC public health
nutrition professionals:
·*Health Educators L2 (Nutrition educator)* positions require a bachelor’s
degree in nutrition or dietetics. Nutrition educators are required to have
a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in nutrition but are *not *required to be
licensed. Dietetic Interns are eligible for the nutrition educator
position until they pass the RD exam.
·*Public Health Nutritionists* are required to be licensed as a
dietitian/nutritionist in the State of Florida. In order to become
licensed, the applicant must have already attained a minimum of a
bachelor's degree in nutrition, completed a 900-hour preplanned supervised
experience (like a dietetic internship), and passed the RD exam.
Registered dietitians are able to apply for licensure by endorsement.
For the most up-to-date information regarding which local WIC agencies are
currently taking applications, job applicants should check the State of
Florida job locator website: https://jobs.myflorida.com. Applicants can
search by keyword, by location, or by postal code for a job openings.
Applicants must apply online by creating an account on the website. Please
note: job openings are generally for applicants who are seeking full-time,
career service (not temporary) positions.
Nutrition educators may be eligible for the Florida WIC dietetic internship
after at least one year of continuous employment in the Florida WIC
program. The intern is required to work an additional 18 months for the
Florida WIC Program following the internship. For more information about
