[Mhcounseling 0014] Comprehensive Exam Registration and Details
Happy New Year!? We hope everyone had some time for rest and rejuvenation over the winter break. This message if for students who plan to graduate in May 2020 (this semester). As explained in the Student Handbook, the Comprehensive Exam is a requirement for all students who graduate from the program: "In the beginning of the Spring semester before graduation, counseling students are required to take the Counselor Preparation Comprehensive Exam (CPCE). This multiple-choice test was designed around the national standards of the counseling profession and is used by counselor training programs around the country. It covers 8 major areas: (1) human development, (2) social & cultural foundations, (3) helping relationships (4) group work (5) career & lifestyle development (6) assessment & evaluation (7) research & program evaluation, and (8) professional orientation. The results of the exam give feedback to the faculty on each student's relative strengths and weaknesses in comparison to national norms. This exam does ?not? lead to certification as a professional counselor but is required to complete the program." Here are the instructions for registering for the Comps. 1. The exam is on Monday, March 09, 2020 in room IB 200 (QC Computer Lab) from 4:30pm-9pm. 2. You must submit a check in the amount of $85 to Dolly Mathura or Jaclyn Arroyo in PH033 by Friday, February 7, 2020 to cover the cost of the exam. Check is payable to COUNSELOR EDUCATION FUND 3. Once we submit the payment, we will be given directions with individual voucher numbers for each student to use when setting up an account that you will have to do prior to the exam. 4.
