Dear Math Methods Students,
Attached please find an Excel file with your placement for Methods course observations and, barring any unforeseen circumstances, student teaching. That is, observations for the Methods
course will be completed at the same school where you will student teach.
The first worksheet of the excel file is arranged by last name of student and indicates your placement. The second worksheet, labeled "Contacts," indicates the name of the person and contact
information for each school. If the contact person indicated a preference for phone or email contact, it is listed. Please contact the person to arrange your observation schedule. Remember to be professional in all communication (email or telephone) and
pay attention to grammar and spelling.
You should receive observation requirements from your methods professor. You are required to observe once per week for three periods. Two of the three periods are to observe math classes;
the third period is to be of service to the department (tutoring, assisting a teacher, working in the math office, etc.). Dress appropriately.
Please note that the math chair people are extremely busy with student needs at the start of the semester. You are the least of their concerns so do not be upset if you do not receive
a reply immediately. Be politely persistent if necessary. If you send an email and do not receive a timely reply, follow with a phone call and mention that all your contact information is in the email.
Have a wonderful semester!
