CHILD CENTER OF NY: PARSONS COMMUNITY SCHOOL - GROUP LEADER We are looking for passionate, and highly-motivated Youth Group Leaders to enthusiastically and actively supervise, engage, and develop youth participants. Participants range from sixth to eighth grade. Candidates with experience, talent, and passion for teaching specific activities or theme-based clubs such as literacy, art, science, technology, robotics, engineering, math, cooking, drama, dance, youth council, leadership, service-learning, or sports are encouraged to apply. Required Skills/Experience: · At least one year After-school work experience, or one full summer camp work experience (Preferred). · Interest and experience in youth development and academic enrichment. · A genuine enthusiasm for developing professional skills through training opportunities, observation, coaching, and feedback. · Availability between 1:45-6:00 p.m.; 15-20 hours per week Monday-Friday. · Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with a broad range of people including school staff, parents, co-workers and supervisors. · Ability to meet School Age Child Care (SACC) requirements and obtain clearances including: background checks, fingerprinting by NYC Dept. of Health, fingerprinting by NYC Dept. of Ed, annual medical clearance and annual TB test documentation. · Ability to effectively manage time and to demonstrate strong organizational skills. · Ability to obtain and submit educational documentation as well as three letters of reference. *Ideal for candidates seeking professions in The Educational Fields, Teaching, Social Work etc. Will help you gain experience in lesson plan writing, executing your own lessons/activities, and classroom management.* Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: * Actively monitor and engage participants during all program activities, including snack, transitions, clubs, study hall, activities, dismissal, and field trips. * Create Project-Based Learning curricula with lesson plans for each group session.
