Late last week, a student reported an on-campus sexual assault. The date of the reported assault was August 29, 2016 in the afternoon. It was reported as occurring in the sixth floor lounge area of Klapper Hall. In response to the report, the Office of Public Safety has implemented additional security and surveillance procedures on campus. The college administration and the Public Safety Office are working with the NYPD to investigate the incident. A person of interest has been identified, and a number of measures have been put into place to ensure the safety of the college community.

To help us keep our campus safe, please consider the following recommendations:
  • Be aware of your surroundings and the people in your vicinity.
  • Walk in groups or with a friend, especially during evening hours or in isolated sections of the campus. Public Safety escorts are available upon request for any faculty, staff, or student who feels his/her safety is at risk. Please call 718-997-5912 if you need an escort.
  • Do not disclose your contact information or confidential information to anyone you don't know.
  • Read Be In The Know (http://qc.cuny.edu/?id=VZLM).
  • Report individuals or behaviors that appear to be threatening, or conditions which appear to be unsafe, to the Office of Public Safety at 718-997-5912 or call 911.
