The Nancy Comley Prize
for the best essay written by an MA or MS. Ed student
Named for the long-standing Chair of the English Department, the Nancy Comley Prize was established this year to honor the best essay produced by a graduate student in either the MA or MS. Ed/English programs. The prize is co-sponsored by English Department Faculty and by the English Department Alumni Fund.
All currently matriculated MA and MS. Ed students as well as MA and MS. Ed students who graduated on
Ø Deadline
The deadline for entries is Monday April 30 at
Ø Length and Format of Submission
Your entry should be no longer than 25 pages in length (and may well be of shorter scope than this), typed, double-spaced, and in a 12 pt. font with 1 inch margins. It must be carefully proof-read and formatted according to MLA style with a Works Cited page included at the end. Please also remember to number your pages.
Ø Pseudonym and Title Page
Your name must not appear anywhere on your entry. For this reason, we ask that you provide a title page for your entry that lists the following information:
ü Your unique pseudonym
ü Your real name and 8-digit CUNY ID number (if you know it)
ü The title of your entry
ü The course for which it was written (e.g. English 727, Henry James; English 791, culminating essay)
ü Your permanent home street address, email address, and phone number
The prize will be judged by members of the MA Program Committee. Winners will be contacted by Friday May 18 and invited to receive their award during the department commencement ceremony on Thursday May 31.
