Dear Graduate Students,

We hope the spring semester is going well for everyone, all things considered. As always, please don't hesitate to reach out to both of us if you need any advising or support.

We wanted to encourage everyone again to consider submitting your proposals for our 2021 QC English Graduate Conference on the theme of remaking and revision. The deadline to submit is this coming Monday, March 15! Please see our previous email below and the attached CFP for more info. Also, if you're interested in getting involved to help plan and prepare for the conference, please let us know!

FYI, sometime in the next week or so, we'll be announcing preregistration dates and instructions, along with the MA course descriptions for this coming summer and fall, so please look out for that email.

Finally, we wanted to share another awesome event that's happening next week--a reading by the incredible poets Cathy Linh Che and Marwa Helal, cosponsored by our department and Belladonna (see attached flyer and a few of Che's and Helal's poems). It's on Wednesday, March 17, at 12:30pm, on Zoom at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86853906676 (meeting ID 868 5390 6676). We hope you're able to join for some of these wonderful free virtual literary events, especially now that they're more accessible.

Please continue taking care and staying safe!

Best,
Caroline & Hillary, your Directors of Graduate Studies in English

Dear Graduate Students,

We are thrilled to share the Call for Papers (CFP) for our 7th annual QC English Graduate Conference, titled "The Makeover: Revision, Transformation, Experimentation" (please see attached CFP). In many ways a response to how we've all had to change course and adapt over the past year, the CFP invites a wide range of presentations, in a variety of formats, that demonstrate and/or reflect on revision and remaking.

Please consider submitting a proposal by the March 15 deadline! Whether it's a revision of a seminar paper, a version of your thesis essay, or a less conventionally academic presentation, this is a wonderful opportunity for you to share your work, get support and feedback from our collegial departmental community, and participate in a vital aspect of academic life.

Please don't hesitate to email us if you have any questions. And of course pencil the dates in your calendars--the conference will take place both asynchronously and synchronously the week of April 26-30 (details TBA).

Best,
Caroline & Hillary, your Directors of Graduate Studies in English
