The Nancy Comley Prize
for the best essay written by an MA or MS. Ed English student
Named for the long-standing Chair of the English Department, the Nancy Comley Prize was established last year to honor the best essay produced by a graduate student in either the MA or MS. Ed/English programs. The prize is co-sponsored by English Department Faculty and by the English Department Alumni Fund.
All currently matriculated MA and MS. Ed students, as well as MA and MS. Ed students who graduated on February 1, 2013, are eligible to compete for the prize. Your entry should be between 10-25 pages in length, typed, double-spaced, and in a 12 pt. font with 1 inch margins. It must be carefully proof-read and formatted according to MLA style with a Works Cited page included at the end. Please also remember to number your pages.
The deadline for submissions is Monday April 22. All entries must be submitted via email to:
andrea.walkden@qc.cuny.edu.
Before submitting your entry, please take careful note of the following instructions:
1. Your full name
2. Your eight-digit ID number
3. The title of your essay
§ Make sure that your name does not appear anywhere in your essay, which will be blind-read by the prize judges.
Winners will be contacted by Wednesday May 1 and invited to receive their award during the department’s prizes ceremony on Wednesday May 8 from 3:00-5:00 in the Godwin Ternbach Museum.
