FYI
Dear Graduate Students,
We are excited to share updates about the Queens College AANAPISI Project (QCAP), which is a new federal grant-funded project on our campus meant to support QC’s diverse and
underserved AAPI students! You can read more about QCAP on our new website
https://qcap.commons.gc.cuny.edu/ and email us with any questions at QCAPQueens@qc.cuny.edu. And please follow us on
Instagram @qcap.queens!
QCAP also has a couple events coming up next week and the week after—please help us spread the word, and we hope to see you there!
* Next week on
Wednesday 5/03 at 4:30pm in Q-Side, we have our first QCAP mental health workshop,
“#AsianFail: Illness and Ingratitude,” led by Asian American studies scholars Jim Lee and erin Ninh. We’ll be exploring the topic of failure and the intersections of our health, (un)wellness, and inter- and trans-generational struggles. AAPI students,
faculty, and staff are all welcome! You can find more info and RSVP via Eventbrite at
https://www.eventbrite.com/e/asianfail-illness-and-ingratitude-tickets-622680994617.

* And the following week, on
Tuesday 5/09, 12:15–1:30pm in the Muyskens Conference Room at the Summit, everyone’s invited to our
AAPI Heritage Month Celebration! There will be yummy food from local Asian eateries and opportunities to connect with and hear from our AAPI students and campus and community leaders! Our very own Kimiko Hahn will be there to say a few words and read
a poem! Plus, we have a special gift for our graduating AAPI students—graduation honor cords to celebrate their accomplishments—and yes, that includes grad students!

QCAP is just starting to get off the ground, and we’re really hoping for a strong turnout at our very first events. Hope to see you there and to hear more from you about how
we can better support and serve you!
Best,
Caroline K. Hong and Amy Wan (the QCAP Directors)
