Dear Graduate Students,
Though my regular office hours for the spring semester have ended, I will be available via email and appointment throughout the summer, so don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions or need advising. Please read on for some important end-of-the-semester announcements.
1. Course and Faculty Evaluations
Don’t forget to fill out evaluations for all your courses at
http://www.qc.cuny.edu/evaluate/. The department and college welcomes your feedback and takes your suggestions very seriously. All comments are anonymous, confidential, and unavailable to instructors until after final grades have been submitted. The deadline has been extended to May 24. You can even fill them out on your mobile devices!
2. Taking an Incomplete
If you’re unable to complete a final course assignment and want to take an incomplete, please make arrangements with your course instructor. Keep in mind that an incomplete is a temporary grade and should be resolved ASAP. All incompletes MUST be resolved within one calendar year.
3. Summer and Fall 2015 Courses
Course descriptions for Summer and Fall 2015 are attached here. There are still plenty of courses with seats open, but they may fill quickly. All students should now be able to register themselves for electives via CUNYfirst. Only 701, 791, and 795 require permission to register.
4. Registering for 791 and 795
If you’re planning to write your thesis essay or take an independent study in the fall, please make sure to get in touch with your faculty advisors (before they're gone for the summer) and submit your paperwork ASAP. If you have questions or need copies of the sign-up forms, please let me know.
5. Graduation
Congratulations to all our graduates! FYI, g
eneral info about the campus-wide commencement and things like caps and gowns can be found on the QC website at http://www.qc.cuny.edu/registrar/graduation/commencement/Pages/default.aspx. The department ceremony happens right after the college ceremony, starting around 11-11:30am, in Goldstein Theater. That's when/where your name will actually be called. I'll be there in my silly robe and poofy hat to congratulate you in person!
Hope your spring semester is winding down nicely, and wishing everyone a lovely summer!Best,
Caroline
