Please see the congratulatory message below from our department chair, Professor Glenn Burger. He and the rest of the faculty were so impressed by our MA students yesterday -- we couldn't be prouder! Best, Caroline -- Caroline Kyungah Hong, PhD Assistant Professor of English Director of Graduate Studies (MA) Queens College, CUNY caroline.hong@qc.cuny.edu ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Glenn D Burger <Glenn.Burger@qc.cuny.edu> Date: Thu, Apr 2, 2015 at 12:39 PM Subject: yesterday's MA student conference Dear Colleagues, Yesterday I spent a really enjoyable day at the MA conference, “Other/Wise: Contesting Knowledges, Inventing Cultures,” and I wanted to congratulate all who were involved with the conference for a job superbly done. Every session moved like clockwork, the papers were of a consistent high quality, and smart questions and discussion followed. We ended with Jonathan Gray’s high octane keynote address on building cultures of resistance through internet connections. My congratulations especially to Caroline and Bill as faculty consultants, and to the student organizing committee: Angela Cerbone, Danielle Marie Demopoulos, Steven Herran, Steve Hopkinson, Maria Rigas, Frances Romano, Madiha Shameem, Beth Sherman, Demetri Siafakas, and Michelle Vacchio, as well as Tiffany, John and Kim in the office for their administrative support. Thanks as well to those faculty to turned out to listen and contribute. And finally, congratulations to Steven Herran who won the prize for best paper of the day. Best, Glenn
