Dear Graduate Students,
Hope you and yours are taking care. Please find below a few important
announcements and updates. And as always, if you have any questions or need
advising, please email us both anytime.
REGISTERING FOR FALL COURSES + INSTRUCTION MODE CHANGES
If you haven't yet registered for your Fall 2021 classes, please do so ASAP
via CUNYfirst. (Courses that are under-enrolled may be canceled by the
College administration.) A few courses are already full, but there are
several with plenty of open seats, including ENGL 681, 722, 724, and 781-03.
*Please review the revised Fall 2021 course descriptions attached here.* A
few descriptions have been updated, and a few fall courses have changed
instruction mode. (Prof. Ala Alryyes's ENGL 722 is now fully online, and
Prof. Rhoda Sirlin's ENGL 681 and Prof. Jason Tougaw's ENGL 781-04 are now
hybrid. There should be no further changes made to instruction modes.)
All fall courses, whether hybrid or fully online, will meet virtually for
at least the first class. You should hear from each of your professors by
the start of the fall semester with further details and instructions.
Please be sure to check your QC email regularly and also add any other
primary email addresses to your CUNYfirst account (see the attached how-to
doc).
Please also be patient when emailing your professors
<http://english.qc.cuny.edu/people/> over the summer. Keep in mind that
faculty (including us) are generally not compensated for working in the
summer, and many are doing their own research, traveling, or otherwise
unavailable. If you don't receive a reply, we recommend waiting a week or
two to follow up.
REGISTERING FOR ENGL 791 & ENGL 795
For anyone planning to take ENGL 791 (thesis essay) or ENGL 795
(independent study) in Fall 2021, the sign-up forms and proposals are due
by email to MAEnglish(a)qc.cuny.edu by *Monday, August 2, 2021*. Please email
us for more info or to get a copy of either sign-up form. (Students
planning to take ENGL 791 should've already been in touch with us—please
email ASAP if you haven't already.)
We'll be in touch with more updates before the start of the semester. Till
then, wishing everyone a safe and restorative summer!
Best,
Caroline & Hillary, your Directors of Graduate Studies
