The alumni will engage in a conversation with political science Professor Carl Bonomo about their distinguished careers and professional advice for students interested in pursuing a career in law. After 15 months overseas service working in the Supreme Court of Pakistan through a Ford Foundation (Maxwell School) Public Service Fellowship, followed by travel through North Africa, the Middle East, Southeast Asia and Japan, he returned to the United States and was admitted to the Bar in New York in 1970. He is a partner at Warner Partners, P.C., a boutique litigation firm in Manhattan. Mr. Warner has specialized in litigation for his entire career. He has represented both domestic and foreign clients and has been profiled in the *New York Law Journal* and featured in two full-length articles in the *American Lawyer *on trials he has conducted. He is regularly listed in the New York Times Super Lawyer publication and has served as an expert witness on practice standards in litigation. For the past 10 years he has been the court-appointed Special Master in MDL matter *In re: Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether (“MTBE”) Products Liability Litigation*, a multi-billion dollar mass tort action that has been pending in the U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York, in which capacity he has conducted hearings and ruled on discovery disputes between the parties. He is an Adjunct Professor of Law at New York University Law School (where he has taught Evidence and Trial Advocacy) and he was appointed by the former Chief Justice of the New York State Court of Appeals as a member of the New York State Commission on the Jury, to investigate and recommend statewide jury reforms. He has lectured at the International Graduate School in Leysin, Switzerland, at the New School for Social Research, at CLE and other programs for the Practising Law Institute and before legal and lay audiences on a wide range of litigation-related subjects. *LORI S. HOBERMAN ‘86* is a well-known force in the in the New York City venture community. She advises entrepreneurs and investors on how to build successful businesses and strategically guides them through the emerging, later stages and exits of their companies. As a lawyer and mentor, Lori works with clients in a range of industries, including mobile, biotechnology, artificial intelligence, e-commerce and advertising. She also counsels angel and institutional investors in their investments and in the formation of investment funds. Lori is a co-founder of IMG Labs, a new innovation incubator. She is also a co-founder of mobile advertising company, Mojiva Inc., and an occasional angel investor. Lori is a frequent speaker and media resource on entrepreneurialism. She is a Mentor to 37 Angels and she chairs the NYC Chapter of the MIT Enterprise Forum, through which she recently organized a week-long summer program in entrepreneurship for NYC high school girls. NYC startup news blog, AlleyWatch, recently named Ms. Hoberman as one of “20 Awesome People in the New York Tech Scene You Need to Know About.” After years of advising entrepreneurs, first as the head of Fish & Richardson’s Venture Capital practice and most recently, as Chair of Chadbourne & Parke’s Emerging Companies/Venture Capital Practice, she has decided to become an entrepreneur herself.
