[History undergraduates] special invitation for History students (and a prize!)
Dear History students, Please come to hear the outstanding scholar Professor Elisheva Carlebach of Columbia University (formerly of Queens College) give a talk on "Images of Jews in the Early Age of Print." This event will take place on Tuesday November 1 from 6:00-8:00pm (includes a reception) in the Rosenthal Library, Room 230. There is a chance to win an award related to this event! The History Department is offering two $250.00 prizes for the best response papers to Prof. Carlebach's talk. The papers should incorporate elements from the talk and may, but need not, be confined to images from the early age of print. Papers may address representations of Jews or other minority or marginalized groups in any time period or context. Papers should be 6-8 pages in length. To be considered for the award, papers must be submitted to the History Dept. (PH 352) by the last day of classes in the Fall 2016 semester. The authors of the winning papers will be notified during the Spring 2017 semester and the prizes will be awarded at the History Dept.'s Honors Party in late May. Please reply to this e-mail or call the History Dept. to RSVP: (718) 997-5350 to let us know that you plan to attend. We hope that you are as excited about this event as we are. Best wishes, Prof. Celello
