[History undergraduates] Paid Political Internship
Dear QC History Students- As Director of Internships for the History Department I am writing with a position that might be of interest to politically-minded history students. Please see the email below for a new internship opportunity. Unlike most of the internship calls we share with QC students, please be aware that this is a partisan internship. If you have any questions or concerns about the nature of this work, please feel free to contact me. The History Department does not endorse candidates and we do not engage in politics, but I want to draw the position to your attention in case you are interested in political history or political science. Sincerely, Dr. Schlichting Kara Murphy Schlichting, PhD Assistant Professor Queens College-CUNY, History Department New York Recentered: Building the Metropolis from the Shore<https://press.uchicago.edu/ucp/books/book/chicago/N/bo35853673.html> https://www.karaschlichting.com/ My name is Michael Michaelson. I'm a senior at Yale University and the Executive Director of the Amplify Organizing Fellowship<https://amplifyfellowship-dot-yamm-track.appspot.com/Redirect?ukey=1a68m3_XsyfUnE1IvA0Gk-b5g0mdlOLL4K8QT3VKsyB4-0&key=YAMMID-15108829&link=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.AmplifyFellowship.org>. We are a Yale-student-run nonprofit that jumpstarts hundreds of careers in progressive politics through a paid summer organizing fellowship. We look for students who are passionate about progressive causes and excited to organize their communities, but who don't yet have extensive political or organizing experience -- and can't afford to spend a summer working for free. We'll train them, connect them to a network of mentors, and place them in paid summer organizing positions, where they'll fight for Democratic candidates and progressive causes. Then, we'll offer them the coaching, resources, and connections they need to launch a career in progressive politics. Would you be open to passing this opportunity along to your students? Many of our best fellows have discovered Amplify through direct outreach from a teacher or mentor. Here's a link to our application.<https://amplifyfellowship-dot-yamm-track.appspot.com/Redirect?ukey=1a68m3_XsyfUnE1IvA0Gk-b5g0mdlOLL4K8QT3VKsyB4-0&key=YAMMID-15108829&link=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.AmplifyFellowship.org%2Fapply> The final deadline is Monday, March 23. It should take about 30 minutes to complete and no political experience is required to apply. Feel free to forward this note along to any students who might be interested, or to use some sample language below. Thanks again, and excited to partner with you on this, Michael "Interested in a paid summer fellowship in progressive politics?
