[History undergraduates] Reminder to register for winter courses
Dear Students, The time to register for winter session courses is now. Please have a look at the schedule and take special note of these three courses: -HIST 101 with Prof. Frangakis-Syrett, MTuWThF, 9:30-12:43 This is a required class for the major and fulfills Pathways. The course covers the history of Europe from Renaissance to the Enlightenment. Topics to be covered are: Renaissance as a cultural movement; the rise of Protestantism and the Wars of Religion across Europe; Exploration and the economic impact of the New World upon Europe; the Ottoman Empire (Muslim) and the Holy Roman Empire (Christian) and what it meant for Europe to be close to the Middle East. Hand outs will be given out in class regularly highlighting the main points of the lecture. -HIST 104 with Prof. Conolly-Smith, MTuWThF, 1:00-4:13. This is a required class for the major and fulfills Pathways. Learn about the United States' rise to world power, its experiences in two World Wars, the 1920s, Great Depression, Cold War, Civil Rights Movement, Vietnam, the student and women's movements of the 1960s and 70s, and the forces and presidents that shaped the world we live in today, all the way through Obama and Trump. Fully booked months in advance. See the attached flyer for more details. -HIST 160 with Prof. Simon, MTuWThF, 1:00-4:13. This is a required class for the major and fulfills Pathways. *Special for Winter: You can use this course to fulfill your upper-division or lower-division non-western requirement.* This particularly topic of this course will be the History of Southeast Asia. Join Prof. Simon as you learn about this pivotal and diverse region. This course will involve open-note examinations. Please register ASAP!
