Dear History Students, Please see the below and attached opportunity with the Andrew Goodman Foundation. Best, Prof. Celello Dear Students, With the start of a new semester, the Queens College chapter of the Andrew Goodman Foundation Vote Everywhere program is looking to recruit new members and volunteers. For those that do not know, Andrew Goodman was a Queens College student and civil rights activists during the Civil Rights Movement. Andrew joined Freedom Summer, a voter registration project aimed at registering African-Americans to vote in Mississippi. On Andy's first day, he and two other civil rights workers, James Chaney and Michael Schwerner, were murdered by the Ku Klux Klan. https://andrewgoodman.org/ To honor him, Queens College gave Andrew a degree posthumously and the clock tower of the Benjamin Rosenthal Library is named after him. Today, a chapter operates on campus and addresses voting rights legislation and social injustices.
