1. On Monday March 15th from 9-1
on the 4th Floor of the Student Union is the annual Women's Studies Conference.
This year the the topic is "Gender and the Workplace"--a
topic of interest in history students. If you plan to attend and
want lunch, you need to call the Women's Studies office at 997-3098 or

2. On Wednesday March 17th at the Free
Hour in the Student Union Rm 301Prof. Mark Pettigrew will give a talk on
Ibn Battuta. Ibn Battuta was a 14th century traveler that has often
been compared to Marco Polo. Again, this topic should be of interest
to history students
3. On Thursday April 8th pre-registration
for History Majors for the Fall Colloquia begins and runs to April 15th.
Because this semester a number of students
were not able to get into a colloquia
we are running six colloquia in the fall. Nevertheless, if you want
your first choice, it pays to register on the first day. Registration
needs to be done in the office or over the phone (997-5350). Students
in the office will get the most immediate attention.
