Dear students,

See below for a good way to make $500 next semester for blogging for the college.  (As a secondary benefit, this kind of thing looks good on a resume.)

Best,
Prof. Allen

Dear Colleagues,

Please tell your students about this upcoming blogging opportunity. The application deadline is August 8.

Writing at Queens

Are you a student with something to say about Queens College? Are you willing to be frank, funny, and provocative? If so, we want you to write for QC Voices, the campus blog (http://qcvoices.qwriting.org).

We are seeking a group of motivated bloggers for the 2014-2015 academic year. We welcome students of all majors and degree programs who represent a range of interests and experiences such as: sports, arts, academics, international students, military veterans, master's students, hobbies, balancing a family, joining social groups or student clubs.

Compensation is generous: $500 per semester if you write 15 posts per semester and attend monthly workshops.  To be eligible, you must be available to meet on Mondays and Wednesdays during free hour.

Since this is a competitive opportunity, it will make a strong statement on your résumé. This is also a unique opportunity to work with a group of your peers and to collectively chronicle your experiences as QC students.

To apply, please submit a 500-word writing sample to the link below. You shouldpropose a theme for your blog that you will stick to throughout the semester (allowing for deviations as inspiration strikes) and explain why you should be chosen as one of our student bloggers. Write your sample in the style you'll use on your blog; there's no need to be formal (you're not being graded on this!), but you should be coherent, comprehensible, and above all interesting.

Please submit your application online http://bit.ly/QCVoices2014-2015 by August 8.
