This is a reminder that our deadline is approaching on February 27 and want to urge all interested applicants to submit their applications. We have been so impressed with the high quality of applicants many of you have sent us over the years and look forward to continuing this tradition. We are proud of the highly competitive nature of our internship and always look forward to reviewing the applications and then ultimately interviewing your students. Our only regret is that we have to send them back to you after only 10 weeks of enjoying their wonderful contributions to the Estate. About the Internship Each year, Mount Vernon's Department of Historic Trades accepts a select number of applicants for summer internships. With focus on the Pioneer Farm and George Washington's Distillery & Gristmill, these internships provide an excellent opportunity for undergraduate students to become immersed in 18th-century history, agriculture, and industry. After completing a brief training program, interns will work as full-time Historic Trades Interpreters for a period of 10 weeks under the direction of our professional interpretive staff. Interns live on the grounds of George Washington's Mount Vernon estate during the internship. In addition, interns participate in special field trips to other historic sites and museums in the region.
