Dear History majors,

As you know, if you declared the History major after Fall, 2010, then included among your requirements is an upper division course in non-western history.  We have a new information sheet in the department that lists all courses that satisfy that requirement in Spring, 2013, but I wanted to give you the list here as well.

1) Hist 166: Truth Commissions in Comparative Perspective.  Prof. Davie.  W, 1:40-4:30, in KY 417.  NOTE: The dept has decided to allow Hist 166 for this requirement, even though the number is below 200.  In general, we're working to change the requirement so that any non-western course at or over Hist 160 would count.
2) Hist 200.03: Inside Arab-Israeli Relations.  Prof. Rosenblum.  Tues, 3:05-5:45, in PH 156
3) Hist 200.05: The Mongols and Global History.  Prof. Rossabi.  Thurs, 2:50-5:00, in the Rubin Museum of Art.  Note that this class is in Manhattan and will make use of the museum collections -- it's a wonderful opportunity if you can fit it into your schedule.
4) Hist 200.06: The Decolonization of Africa.  Prof. County.  Tues-Thurs, 1:40-2:55, in RZ 109.
5) Hist 200w.02: The History of the Bukharian Jews.  Prof. Rybakov.  Wed, 6:30-9:20, in KY 417.
6) Hist 294: The History of Brazil.  Prof. Chazkel.  Tues, 6:30-9:20, PH 156.

Any of the above would satisfy the requirement for upper division non-western.

Best,
Prof. Allen
