Dear Students,
A lovely offer has been made on your behalf by one of our valued alums, seeking to give back to the school:
Etta Thornton-Verma (GSLIS 2000) recently contacted the school to offer her services as an editor for students who are trying to have their work published. This graduate, who is an associate editor at School Library Journal, explained that publishing while she was in library school at Queens College was instrumental in her being hired at School Library Journal. She expressed the desire to help a school that enabled her, a recent immigrant, to quickly climb the professional ladder, and particularly wished to aid library school students who are emerging into a very tough job market.
This is not limited to those writing about Library Media Centers, but to any aspect of librarianship.
Ms. Thornton-Verma notes that she is willing to edit the work (at no cost!) of any students who are trying to publish library science articles, but would like to emphasize that she has no sway in them getting material published in School Library Journal or anywhere else!).
We are extremely grateful to Ms. Thornton-Verma for her offer, and hope that many of you will take advantage of her generosity!!! This is likely to be of particular value to those of you who might seek to rework your 709 project into a publishable article, or who have done independent studies or written other papers with the potential for publication in the literature.
Best of luck!
Sincerely,
cp
