Visitors and Residents: What Motivates Engagement with the Digital Information Environment?

Greetings! We are looking for people interested in taking part in an important study. We are willing to pay you for participants’ time.

The University of Oxford (http://www.tall.ox.ac.uk/), OCLC Research (http://www.oclc.org/research/), and the University of North Carolina, Charlotte (http://library.uncc.edu/) are working together on a study interested in how people use computers, phones (and other mobile devices), their network of friends and family, and the internet to get information. We are interested in how people judge the quality of the information they find. This work will increase our understanding of how learners engage with the Web and how educational services and systems can encourage and sustain lifelong learning.

Before the survey, we will need you to complete a questionnaire, which should take about 10 minutes to complete. If you fit into the study profile and we choose you for participation, we will need you to give your consent and your email address. Please understand that you will not be compensated for taking the demographic screening. You will only receive compensation if you are chosen and participate in the online survey.

Surveys will be conducted online and will take you approximately 45 minutes to complete. Your identity will be kept anonymous. Your email addresses and any other identifying information will not be connected to your survey responses. Furthermore, you are free to withdraw your consent at any time and to terminate your participation. If you do complete your part in the survey, you will receive a gift card from Amazon.com in the amount of $20.00.

Additionally, we hope you are able to assist us recruit other possible participants for the survey and we encourage you to pass on this information.
