Gslisadjuncts Information request for GSLIS website
Hello, My name is Lucia Cedeira Serantes and I am a new faculty member at GSLIS. I have met some of you during the last months, but not all so nice to meet you, even if virtually! I am contacting you to request some information for the school website. GSLIS is in the process of developing a new website and in this new design we would like to incorporate more information about our adjuncts. The objective of doing this is twofold: 1) to support the course selection process from the students; 2) to showcase the amazing pool of adjunct instructors we have in the school. The information we would like you to share is the following: * Work title and work place * Courses being taught presently and/or in the past * Contact information * Short personal statement: something you would like to share with the students * Picture (if you do not have one, you can email me and I will get you in touch with a person who can go to your class and take some) We would like to have this information before the end of the term to include it in the website during the summer term and have it ready for sure in the fall term. Thank you very much in advance for your time and your help in this endeavor! Lucia Cedeira Serantes, PhD, MLIS, Lic. Assistant professor Graduate School of Library and Information Studies Rosenthal Library, room 242 Queens College, City University of New York
To all GSLIS Adjuncts: I want to follow up on Lucia's suggestion, and urge that adjuncts take the request seriously. She is acting on behalf of the Publications and External Promotions Committee of GSLIS, of which she is a member, and I happen to be chair. We voted to replace the paper newsletter with an online version, effective in the fall of 2015. But we need more information, to begin with, and on an ongoing basis to make this effort work. We will need a constant flow of new information if this effort is to have its intended effect. The School has a talented and effective group of adjuncts; some of you hold important positions around the New York library world. We want to acknowledge that and take advantage of that reality. An ongoing blog will help in that regard. So, please re-read Lucia's request and respond to her call. OK? Many thanks, Jim Marcum Professor ________________________________ From: Lucia Cedeiraserantes Sent: Tuesday, May 05, 2015 4:33 PM To: gslisadjuncts@lists.qc.cuny.edu Cc: James W Marcum Subject: Information request for GSLIS website Hello, My name is Lucia Cedeira Serantes and I am a new faculty member at GSLIS.
