Gslisadjuncts Effort to collect list of Scholarship/Fellowship opportunities
Dear Colleagues, As part of a joint effort of the Publications Committee and the Committee on Admissions, Academic Standing and Student Affairs, we would appreciate your collective assistance in compiling a list of scholarship opportunities to post on our expanding GSLIS website. This information is often requested by potential applicants and current students. Although we regularly post relevant announcements on Glisann, the sheer volume of activity on the listserv means the information often gets buried. In addition to existing GSLIS opportunities (such as the Wilson Scholarship and the Citi Center for Culture + Queens Library Fellowship—geared to Archives students), and well-known opportunities through links such as the following: http://www.ala.org/educationcareers/careers/librarycareerssite/gettinghelpfi... http://www.librarylandindex.org/scholarships-grants.html http://www.schoolsoup.com/scholarship-directory/academic-major/library-scien... http://www2.archivists.org/recognition you may know of local or specialized opportunities in your area(s) of interest. For example, the Andrew Ippolito Scholarship is sponsored annually by the Nassau County Library Association, and the New York Art Resources Consortium recently posted a post-graduate Kress Foundation Fellowship application. Information about recurring opportunities would be of special importance. I have tried to save appropriate announcements from Glisann, but we would appreciate if you could send relevant information (preferably with a curren link) that you are aware of to my attention. Please mention “Scholarships” in the subject line. Many thanks to all! Claudia Claudia A. Are the NYLA-sponsored scholarship opportunities already on the list? - Each library school in NY can select one student for a $1000 scholarship. - Many NYLA sections offer scholarship opportunities, some of these provide funding to attend the annual NYLA Conference. The Nassau County Library Association also decided to open its "Education Grants" to student members of the association. While the Scholarship Committee has not yet prepared guidelines, these grants are for up to $500. Hope this helps. Art Arthur L.
