Gslisadjuncts Proposed First Curr. Space: Wed, 2-11-15--APA and SAA
Dear Colleagues, In anticipation of the forthcoming semester, I was hoping that we could follow past practice and hold the first Curriculum Space of the semester on a day when LBSCI 701 students are scheduled, so that we have a target audience for our standard introduction to APA Style. Specifically, this would be Wednesday, February 11, 2015 from 5:45 to 7:15. Linda has indicated this might be a good opportunity for 709 students in her section to brush up on their skills, and K.B.’s hybrid section of 700 also is scheduled for that day. Concurrently, we are hoping that this time slot would be a good one to hold a session geared to students in the Archives track. Alumna Jenny Swadosh has offered to present on the values of professional networking opportunities for Archives students, along with a colleague. Further, Prof. Johnathan Thayer has agreed to serve as faculty sponsor for the SAA student chapter, so they are hoping to use this opportunity to reinvigorate the chapter in conjunction with this event. Please let me know at your earliest convenience if anyone sees a difficulty with this proposal. I thought it would be helpful for planning purposes for all faculty teaching during spring term to have a sense of when Curr. Spaces will be scheduled, to assist in formulating their course calendars and inviting guest speakers. If I don’t hear from you, I will assume it is okay to go forward with planning this event on February 11. I trust that other Curr. Space dates will be designated subsequently. Many thanks to all and best wishes for the holidays! Claudia Claudia A.
