Dear Colleagues: FYI As member of the CUNY Academic Technology Committee, (CUNY CAT) I was recently informed at the November 2011 meeting, that Chief Information Officer Brian Cohen announced that CUNY will be upgrading to Blackboard 9.1, the latest version of the University's enterprise learning management system. The transition to Blackboard 9.1 is scheduled to take place at all institutions prior to the start of the Summer 2012 term(s). As most of us are currently using BB 8, A project team composed of representatives from Blackboard Managed Hosting, CUNY's Office of Computing and Information Services, and faculty and staff from some of the colleges, is now in place, and work on the upgrade has begun in earnest. I attended a 'sneak preview session' at my home capus Bronx Community College last week and can report that there are critical changes in this new version, which are significant. With that in mind, I am sure that Mr. Kenneth Lord, The Queens College BB Administrator from the The Office of Instructional Technology is in the process of developing training and communications plans to prepare faculty, students, and staff for the transition to Blackboard 9.1.
