HI!
I'm sharing this email from a librarian and PhD candidate I met at NYBLC's recent mini-conference. I hope you will share with other candidates that may be interested in collaborating with her on a research project and upcoming conference presentation.

Good Morning Prof. Baako:
It was a pleasure meeting you at the NYBLC mini-conference on Saturday. I wanted to talk with you further about the work you are doing with the Library Action Committee and the Langston Hughes Community Library & Cultural Center. The center’s objectives closely align with my ideas and vision for my thesis - which my dissertation committee refers to as my “research agenda”. My research interests revolve around digital curation, research justice, community informatics, and critical information literacy. As I mentioned, I’m in the process of trying to whittle my “agenda” down to a research statement in order to craft the basis of my research and thesis. I’m interested in a transdisciplinary exploration of LIS, utilizing information and communications technology for asset mapping and preservation in communities displaced by gentrification.
As a distance student I sometimes feel like I’m in an echo chamber of my own thoughts, if you know of any other graduate students in writing circles or interested in collaborating on projects related to LIS in a social justice or critical heritage studies context would you pass my information along to them? I’d like to collaborate on a project for the upcoming 2016 Allied Media Conference in Detroit and proposals are due in November. Please take a look at the following links about AMC and the current call for proposals. If you know of others who might be interested in submitting a proposal for an inter-generational project similar to the work we briefly touched upon after the Lessons of Hayti screening let me know.
