Gslisadjuncts CUNY Updated Faculty Handbook
March 2012 Dear Colleagues, To support curricular and pedagogical efforts, the CUNY Office of Institutional Research and Assessment has prepared an updated Faculty Handbook for the CATW, which includes a sample test form, the scoring rubric, scored student responses to the test form, and analysis and discussions of the text and writing assignment. In this revised edition, the Faculty Handbook contains: · An updated scoring rubric (pp. 4-5), with refinements in the descriptive language to reduce ambiguity; and · Sample classroom test preparation activities (p. 13). A copy of the handbook is attached to this email. We would appreciate your cooperation in distributing the handbook to your faculty and staff. Faculty may wish to duplicate selected portions of the material for their classes, especially the sample test and student responses, as well as the rubric. In addition, the student version of this handbook is attached. It, too, has been revised. In addition to an updated scoring rubric, the Student Handbook contains a new selection of critical thinking exercises (pp. 26-7). It also contains a sample test, sample student responses, and a section of practice exercises to help students prepare for the test. Both handbooks are copyrighted, but may be reproduced for noncommercial educational purposes. Thank you for your support in this project and for your help in sharing these handbooks with the university community. Sincerely, Frederick L.
