Gslisadjuncts Information for adjuncts
Dear colleagues, The department is aware of how little support there is for our adjuncts, especially newly appointed adjuncts trying to navigate Queens College and CUNY systems. There are a lot of things we’d like to do to address that, but foremost among them is trying to get an authoritative source of information for adjuncts to refer to. This began as an adjunct handbook, but in the interests of transparency and reducing duplication, we’ve decided to incorporate the adjunct handbook into a department handbook. This is an evolving document, still very much in draft form, but you can see the current version here: Department Handbook<https://docs.google.com/document/d/169mN26sndTWdeYZA4RkIy0PIKhS8CEMCu8jAUKAoeK8/edit> I’d be very grateful if adjuncts could look at the fourth section, which Johnathan Thayer has been working on (thank you Johnathan!) and add any comments you may have about information you’d like to see included in the handbook. What would you like to know (more) about? What do you wish you’d been told when you were first appointed? What support would you like to see from the department? Please add comments to the document and we will continue to develop it. Thank you for your work for the department and our students. With best wishes for the holidays, James Dr. James Lowry (he/him) Associate Professor Chair and Director, Information Studies, Queens College<https://sites.google.com/view/qcgslis> Ellen Libretto and Adam Conrad Endowed Chair in Information Studies City University of New York<https://www.cuny.edu/> https://us02web.zoom.us/my/jlowrycuny
