Gslisadjuncts Revised description of LBSCI 734: Art Librarianship and Visual Resources Curatorship
Dear Students, My regrets for not having posted this revised description earlier, at the request of Profs. Suzanna Simor and Steven Kowalik. Please see below. LBSCI 734. Art Librarianship & Visual Resources Curatorship. 3 hr.; 3 cr. Prereq.: LBSCI 700, 701, 702, 703. Survey of present practices in art and visual resources librarianship /curatorship; organization, administration, collection development (electronic and print), instruction and assessment of patron needs; special issues in art libraries and visual resources collections. Guided visits to various types of art libraries and arts organizations will be included. The course will be taught Thursday, 3-5:35, at the Joseph S. Murphy Institute, on the 19th Floor Computer room. Although this falls outside of QC slots, it duplicates the time in which this course was taught before, last in the Summer 2013 by Alexandra de Luise and Steven Kowalik, when, as earlier, it worked very well for the need to combine classroom instruction with visits to libraries, art institutions, and specialized bookstores in Manhattan. There are still 8 available seats should you wish to sign up. Best wishes, Dr. Perry Claudia A.
