The Digital Public Library of America Steering Committee is leading the first concrete steps toward the realization of a large-scale digital public library that will make the cultural and scientific record available to all. We're bringing together a wide range stakeholders in a broad, open forum to present the history of and vision for the DPLA effort, to showcase the best ideas and models submitted to our Beta Sprint (an open call for code and concepts defining how the DPLA should operate), and to create multiple points of entry for public participation in the work of the DPLA. We?re looking forward to this opportunity to share our work thus far with the public and to engage an even wider group of participants from across the country in the DPLA effort. For those interested in attending, we have scholarships available to help support travel and accommodation. For more information regarding these scholarships, please contact dpla@cyber.law.harvard.edu with your name, city of residence, and a short paragraph explaining your need no later than Friday, September 30, 2011. We warmly invite you, your students, and all other faculty and staff to join us at this event. Registration and more information can be found at: http://cyber.law.harvard.edu/events/2011/10/dplaplenary <http://cyber.law.harvard.edu/events/2011/10/dplaplenary> Please feel free to forward this announcement widely among the members of your community, and do not hesitate to be in touch with us if you have any questions. We look forward to hearing from you soon. Warm regards, Kenny Whitebloom Research Assistant, Digital Public Library of America Secretariat -- chirp elt Dr. Thomas T.
