Dear Colleagues, THIS WEEK: On Thursday 7 March, we will begin offering a series of workshops presented by QC’s Center for Teaching a Learning. GSLIS Vice-Chair Linda Cooper posted an announcement about these workshops on this Listserv earlier this week. All faculty members are welcome, even if you are not teaching at QC this semester. These workshops will be held on Thursday afternoons. NEXT WEEK: Please note that I will be away next week, March 11-14. I am best reached by email on my personal account bobbybrody@aol.com. Also, I may also be contacted by cell phone at 516 220-5266 but reception may not be consistent. THIS MONTH: As you know, Spring Break begins on 25 March and ends on 2 April. Classes resume on Wednesday 3 April. CURRICULUM SPACES: There were two curriculum spaces in February; there will be no curriculum spaces in March. HEADS UP: [May 2013] The Jewish holiday of Shavuot begins at sunset on Tuesday 14 May and continues through sundown Thursday May 16. Consequently, some students may not be able to attend classes on those three days. Bobby PS: Just in case you didn’t see the announcement, here it is: The Graduate School of Library and Information Studies is delighted to announce a series of workshops to be presented by The Queens College Center for Teaching and Learning The GSLIS/CTL Thursday Afternoon Workshop Series will be held on Thursdays from 4:00 - 5:30 in the GSLIS Mac Lab and will be open to the GSLIS Community by registration only. Space is limited to 14 seats so register early! If your plans change, please let us know so your reserved seat can be opened to another person. The first session will be held on Thursday, March 7 as described below. Introduction to Google Collaboration Tools This session will cover a variety of Google tools for collaboration, including text documents, presentations, spreadsheets, and forms.
