Hi all, A couple of you have been in touch about the notices of non-reappointment that have recently gone out. These are automatic messages that go to all adjuncts who are not teaching in the subsequent semester, and do not reflect 1) GSLIS’ appreciation of your excellent teaching or 2) my intention to invite you to teach in future semesters. I would have written in advance of the notices going out, but the departments are never told this is about to happen. I and GSLIS value all of our adjuncts very much. We have been working on improving the adjunct experience and it’s clear that one thing we can do in future is to try to get in front of these messages before they go out. We continue to work on an adjunct section in the Department Handbook that will be a guide to all the various CUNY systems and processes, which I hope will also help. Best James
